I love finding poetry that makes writing poetry feel like an essential gift I have to give. I recently read a poem that ‘saw’ me, understood me and told me that mine is a special gift. It gave me a hug and reassured me- my life is one of a kind- one I ought to live, that If I didn't, the world would be deprived of experiencing a rare kind of existence. It showed me how poems can give hugs and how they can come from someone you’ve never met/spoken to and say only exactly what you needed to hear. Honestly, more than anything, I hope my poetry makes you feel seen and understood. I hope it makes you feel less alone. I hope it validates your feelings and helps you understand them better. I hope it inspires you to love yourself.
